Thanks to the realization that we’ve entered into August (how did that happen?!), we at VP+C are desperately trying to savor our last moments of summer. As we scramble to take in all the beachy brilliance that comes with this season, we’ve found a common theme amongst many of our summer favorites – blue! It’s the nautical hue of the seas that we’re completely obsessed this month!

There are some things about summer that I wait all year to enjoy, like corn on the cob, tubing on the lake and ice cream–rich, farm fresh, old-fashioned ice cream. So when my roommates asked me to join them for frozen yogurt last weekend, I was skeptical. Frozen yogurt is not, and will never be, ice cream. It is healthier for you, which obviously means it doesn’t taste good. But, I begrudgingly accompanied my friends to 16 Handles on 76th and Amsterdam. And that was the moment that my life changed forever.

In “honor” of my 25th birthday—which is coming up in two weeks, mark your calendar—New York City recently opened up Pier 25, a fantastic park and playground in TriBeCa. The family-friendly pier features a mini-golf course, water playground, and my favorite—three sand volleyball courts. The courts have been my Saturday go-to, as several of my friends and I have been gathering to bump, set, and hit, all while getting sweaty and sandy. It’s the “in” summer look, right? The best part: the backdrop to all this summer fun includes the beautiful Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty, and downtown NYC—including…

If there is one thing I consider my obsession, it’s television. I know it’s not something that people usually brag about, but I tend to pride myself on my depth of television knowledge and the passion that I have for all things on the small screen. Since I started at VP+C, I have found a new passion – interior design. All of a sudden, I’m stashing last month’s House Beautiful in my bag as I leave work, and planning redecorating weekends with my roommates. And while I’m certainly not the resident expert on interior design at this office, it’s safe…

Simply drop-dead amazing, these canvas cushions are created by Lost City Products, a New York-based design house dedicated to making furnishings and fashions that “are informed by vanishings crafts and inspired by an urban aesthetic.” Appropriately titled ‘Forensic,’ this collection of provocative pillows—featuring finger print, blood splatter, hair motifs and more—masterfully manipulates the boundary between gruesome and good looking to call attention to people’s fascination with the “gothic allure” of evidence. The pieces are bold. They’re not for everyone. But I say bravo! Call me crazy, but I want them all.

Happy National Pink Day!!

No, I’m not making this up. Evidently every year on this date, pink is praised for its romantic and soothing shade, and for its tie to breast cancer research (pink ribbon is its symbol). So to celebrate, my colleagues Josh, Kelsey, Margaux, Michelle and I have rounded up our new favorite pink finds for your pleasure. Some are pretty, one is yummy, and the other is gobsmackingly gummy. Enjoy!

Mod, Malibu, Mad Men Betty Draper Barbie…this old gal has more looks than the September issue of Vogue! And come fall, she’s stepping up her style to a whole new, err, level, adding Architect chic to her wondrous wardrobe resume.

The term bohemian is traditionally defined as: In that case, it is the perfect name for this secret little spot I enjoyed eating at this past weekend – an exclusive restaurant with an unconventional restaurant operation: It may not look like much on the outside, but once you make it through those doors and into the quaint space, you instantly feel as if you were in your own home. “Bohemian is a secret Japanese dining room located in NoHo in a property formerly owned by Andy Warhol. The restaurant gets its name from the fact that is considers itself  “a…

It has been said that New York City is the greatest city in the world. That’s the archetype that resided in my mind, at least, as I graduated from college and planned my big move to the Big Apple. Yet, as I spend my Memorial Day unpacking boxes in an un-air conditioned apartment, I begin to realize that there are many aspects of relocating to New York that aren’t as alluring as the rest of the city.

For about 8 months, I’ve been completely repulsed by one of my usual favorite foods, chicken. But last week, completely sick of Kashi Heart-to-Heart and grilled cheese,I asked my husband to take me to Brooklyn’s Pies n’ Thighs for a sandwich that I’ve been hearing about from friends for a while now. The fascination started when my friend Mara described this thing as the world’s most perfect sandwich. Another friend could only moan. And then, at an Easter brunch at a friends house, I tasted a slice of Pies n’ Thighs’ banana cream pie, and  i thought to myself, “this…
