We’re just a few hours away from the start of our PR RV journey, and as we unpack our snacks and organize our supplies, we can’t help but be amazed by how beautiful this vehicle is. It’s become apparent to our team that the PR RV isn’t just a celebration of our clients- it’s also an ode to the craftsmen who apply the finishing touches to every project. Without Jimmy DiResta, fabricator extraordinaire, the buildout would have been homespun and scary– nothing more than a temporary display– instead of the roaming home we’re all already feeling it will be. He’s given…

Take a look behind the scenes and see how our (glamorous!?!) PR road trip is shaping up as the RV is transformed into a style dynamo. We went from this – to that – in no time flat. Note the Flavor Paper Meteor Flower wallpaper in Bollywood, the closet and drawers in Benjamin Moore’s Washington Blue from the new Colonial Williamsburg Collection, and Bayview laminate in Toasted Chestnut from Mohawk Flooring.

Why would five sane, (or at least sane-seeming) New York public relations professionals trick out an RV and go on a road trip to Des Moines, Iowa? In August? The week BEFORE Labor Day? Because, we feel strongly, that, in this digital age, the concept of connectivity has changed dramatically and we’ve lost the eye contact and face-to-face meetings that enable personal relationships to bud and blossom. As relationships with key media contacts are the lifeblood of VP+C’s PR business and one of the most valuable assets we offer our clients, we decided to mix it up a little and,…

I recently returned from a trip to Germany, where VP+C escorted a group of journalists to test Dornbracht’s incredible ATT technology. You’ve probably heard, by now, of the Horizontal Shower, which is powered by ATT. In addition to getting to test out this supremely relaxing, invigorating and exciting marvel of technological mastery, we had a wonderful tour of the country. Though i’ve had the privilege of visiting Dornbracht many times before, this was my first summertime visit and i have to say, it was spectacular. Check out my photos from the Black Forest and beyond. Horizontal Shower, above a supremely…

Air pollutants – equivalent to the emissions of 260 cars – are now gone with the wind thanks to the latest rising star in town. Her name is Wendy, and she’s garbed in PURETi titania nano mineral-treated fabric skin capable of cleaning NYC’s air. This lovely lady was conceived by our friends at design firm HWKN as part of MoMA PS1‘s Young Architects Program – a competition to design a structure that inhabits  MoMA PS1’s courtyard for the duration of each summer. At a soft opening on Thursday, June 28th, guests were given to opportunity to experience Wendy’s many talents…

Confession – I have a thing about animal heads. And they are having a moment! I think it started with the pink paper-mache moose head I did in grade school (late 80’s of course). I had a momentary foray into real taxidermy, until I realized that ordering such online might actually result in the killing of an animal for me to have such décor. We wanted a rhino head over the bed…but not under THOSE circumstances… HELL NO! Contrary to the recent New York Times story on the over-styled house – http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2012/05/17/garden/20120517TOTEMS.html – if you have an animal head…

Popular, thoughtful, and delicious…and I’m not talking about myself! I’m talking about May Day, a local coffee shop in Minneapolis that I recently visited on my trip to the heartland. The fair-trade shop, which is committed to earth-friendly practices, serves up a variety of vegetarian and vegan offerings, and is particularly a hit among those of the indie/hipster persuasion…as well as wannabes like me. When I wasn’t cow-tipping or getting lost on Interstate 394, I enjoyed a creamy spinach quiche, a homemade 7-layer bar, iced coffee and, of course, the people-watching. I decided May Day to Minneapolis is the East…

One of the great things about being a newcomer to New York is that I can still attend exciting events and be in complete shock and awe over them. Maybe after my one-year anniversary I will need to start acting more nonchalant about things. This past weekend I was able to see the New York City Ballet Company perform at the David Koch Theatre at Lincoln Center. I was taken by how beautiful Lincoln Center Plaza is, as well as the glorious interior of the David Koch Theatre. I went with an old friend, who used to be a ballerina…

While the subject of gay marriage is no laughing matter– no matter which side you ask – I’ve been thoroughly amused lately by the humor being deployed to draw attention to the issue. While politicians are battling it out in nearly every state, these amateur civil rights comedians have also been cracking me up with some pretty amazing signage, bringing charm and levity to a pretty serious situation. And as my mom says, the secret to any good marriage is simple: laughter.

We were all inspired this month by the transporting of the space shuttles to and from Washington on the back of a 747. It was a sight that reminds us of the power and beauty of human ingenuity and biomimicry–from the Wright Brothers’ first flight to Steve Jobs’s first iPad. And to think that by the time our children today are in college tomorrow, trips to the moon will be commonplace for those who can afford it… “The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who, in their grueling travels across trackless lands in…
