The 10-Step Skincare Regimen and why it’s necessary.

We know there are burning questions about the PR RV out there right now. Forget “Are these people out of their minds?” and let’s focus on  “Where are they sleeping?” It’s not the Ritz. There’s a new campground on the itinerary each night, and we’ve officially survived our first night of glamping. There were mosquitoes in the showers, and sulfur-scented well water, (and a small incident with a roadblock about a mile down the road at 11:00 last night that nearly cracked us) but we made some awesome new friends who showed us their stunning photos of Yellowstone, and, to be…

Not everyone knows that one of our fearless leaders, Mark Veeder, is an avid gardener and budding horticulturalist. In fact, he discovered a new strain of echinacea in 2004. His ‘Green Envy’™ is a green flower in the Echinacea family, a healthful herbaceous plant genus that helps ward off winter cold symptoms. According to testing conducted by Stephen Moring, a research scientist at the University of Kansas and the country’s leading Echinacea expert, ‘Green Envy’ has even more active healing properties than the traditional purple variety. According to our tour guide at Fallingwater, humans are missing vitamin N: Nature. We agree! So…

We love a good plus sign around here at VP+C, so the +POOL is right up our alley! One of the largest kickstarted civic projects in the world, the floating swimming hole is designed to filter East River water through the walls of the pool. The layered filtration system removes bacteria and contaminants to ensure clean, swimmable water for New Yorkers to enjoy. AMAZING! The +POOL team will create a floating test lab this year and we can’t wait to see more. Stay tuned for another chance to purchase a pool tile and tack your name or message onto this mind-blowing project.

Hats off to our principal Mark Veeder for not only developing and patenting a new variety of Echinacea Purpurea he named ‘Green Envy’– but for also scoring a spotlight of his discovery in the new lushly illustrated book, Natural Companions, by acclaimed green thumb Ken Druse. Even if you’re not a gardening guru, chances are you’ve heard of Echinacea in the form of vitamin supplements with a number of outstanding health benefits.  Green Envy is tested to be an especially robust strain of the typically purple perennial that features a glorious jade green shade from mid-July through autumn.   With...

Air pollutants – equivalent to the emissions of 260 cars – are now gone with the wind thanks to the latest rising star in town. Her name is Wendy, and she’s garbed in PURETi titania nano mineral-treated fabric skin capable of cleaning NYC’s air. This lovely lady was conceived by our friends at design firm HWKN as part of MoMA PS1‘s Young Architects Program – a competition to design a structure that inhabits  MoMA PS1’s courtyard for the duration of each summer. At a soft opening on Thursday, June 28th, guests were given to opportunity to experience Wendy’s many talents…

Popular, thoughtful, and delicious…and I’m not talking about myself! I’m talking about May Day, a local coffee shop in Minneapolis that I recently visited on my trip to the heartland. The fair-trade shop, which is committed to earth-friendly practices, serves up a variety of vegetarian and vegan offerings, and is particularly a hit among those of the indie/hipster persuasion…as well as wannabes like me. When I wasn’t cow-tipping or getting lost on Interstate 394, I enjoyed a creamy spinach quiche, a homemade 7-layer bar, iced coffee and, of course, the people-watching. I decided May Day to Minneapolis is the East…

This March marks the 100-year anniversary of Japan’s gift of 3,000 Cherry Blossom trees to the United States. In 1912, Tokyo’s Mayor Ozaki donated the trees in an effort to enhance the growing friendship between the United States and Japan, and also to celebrate the continued close relationship between the two nations. With New York experiencing near record weather highs this week, this is a beautiful reminder of not only warmer weather, and also helps to give people a sense of renewal after the (semi) cold winter. In Buddhist culture, the Cherry Blossom is a symbol of the transient nature of…

It’s that time of year again–the season of scarves, mittens, and Peppermint Mochas from Starbucks. In celebration of the upcoming holiday festiveness, I’ve asked my colleagues to share their favorite something that’s “red and green.” Surrounded by beautiful Benjamin Moore hues every day, it’s easy to spend an extra few minutes with the color decks to find your personal faves. For me, Cedar Green and Bullseye Red take the Christmas cake: And speaking of cakes, my all-time favorite thing that’s red and green are, no suprise, Little Debby Christmas Tree Cakes. My grandma used to have these fully in stock…
