While flipping through Time Out New York during my morning commute today, the one page that tickled my curiosity was this Ray-Ban ad: Confusing much!? First of all, as a reader I am being compared to the capital of England. Secondly, ‘Never Hide?’ – I am pretty sure I haven’t played hide-and-seek in over a decade. A cliffhanger nonetheless, I instantly Google-d and Facebook searched for details as to what this event actually consists of to find… Nothing! The most details I could find on their website and Facebook was this: This 19th March, Ray-Ban invites you to an event…

At just about 7.5 months pregnant, I am pretty mystified about what to wear to suit my new “shape.” (Round is a shape, right?) The hardest thing seems to be finding jeans that still look cool, fit my normal-sized legs and beach ball-sized middle, and don’t set me back $225. So today I stumbled upon the Denim Therapy, which not only doctors any ol’ poor distressed jeans, but will make a sweet looking pair of maternity pants out of your favorite pair. And when the baby weight is gone, they’ll return them to their original size/shape. It’s a demin miracle!…

File this under “things I wish I thought of myself”: Modern furniture purveyors Blu Dot are encouraging fans to join them for their very first Swap Meet. Here’s how it works- check out the list of contemporary furnishings, accessories and lighting and choose your favorite. Then, play let’s make a deal. You can swap your stuff, your services, even your sense of humor. Right now, a lot of people are offering original artworks. But i’m rooting for Father Jeffrey Cufaude of Indianapolis who will (sort of) absolve the Blu Dot team of their sins for a rocker, and Michelle in…

It’s no secret that i get excited about little objets d’art and glittery bits. So when i wandered off to see what there is to see around our new office, i was amazed- nay, obsessed- by DeVera, our neighbor two doors down. The scene from the street is almost so fabulous it’s forbidding. The corner space is enclosed in paned glass windows, allowing glimpses of strange treasures inside. One can spy estate jewelry, unusual paintings, carved ivory, and snatches of rich fabrics from the street. According to the company website: “The two galleries show a finely curated selection including Venetian…

Neutral colors will forever be a fashion staple. They continue to be chic, timeless, and easily paired with trends in any form- clothing, shoe, or accessory. Trends come and go, bright colors quickly become an eyesore, but pair them with a neutral and you will find harmony. Black, white, brown, gray, camel, navy, and all shades between, contrast, enhance, and bring together colors and prints. This Sunday at the Simon Spurr 2011 Fall Winter Show, I witnessed all three of my fashion favorites all at once- neutrals, large hoods, and male models (mmm, eyecandy!). The show was held at Exit…

That’s right…I just bought this bad boy. After years of getting my elliptical on for free in my building’s silly-expensive gym, the management recently pulled my proverbial power cord. What was a girl to do? Obviously, get this! Upon taking counsel with a friend who purchased this Hideaway Elliptical Trainer a few weeks ago, I knew that the only way for me to stay fit (depending on the day and lighting, of course) was to join her home exercise bandwagon. Honestly, unless the gym is an elevator ride away or around the corner, I’m not going to go. So, despite…

My name is Meghan, and I’m addicted to Esque Studio’s high-concept curiosities. Ever since I was introduced to the studio’s hand-blown glass pieces (about a year ago) I was hooked—big time. Honestly, just take a look…how could you not be? From skull-shaped paperweights and Fred Flinstone-style barware to bold-colored beakers, the Portland, Oregon-based brand cooks-up tabletop treats that flirt with scale and fantasy, and that are just plain fun. They always make me giddy—just like when I had a crush on a boy named Sam when I was 5 years old. Helmed by world-renowned designers Andi Kovel and Justin Parker,…

As we packed up our office at 568 Broadway in preparation for our move to 13 Crosby, things started to get hectic and I decided it was time for some fresh air. However, when I looked out the window it looked like this: What a surprise. Though Mother Nature has given us quite a beating this winter, the people at Urban Daddy have conjured up a quick fix with a free pop-up park at 201 Mulberry St. I had visited this location a couple of months ago just before Christmas in its previous incarnation as a holiday boutique- the pop-up…

Like many people, I don’t just want a cup of coffee in the morning- I practically depend on it. Throughout the years, my morning Starbucks coffee order has graduated from a regular coffee, to a skinny latte, to a dirty chai (a chai latte with shots of espresso – aka coffee crack). At least for me, a regular latte just doesn’t have the same effect it used to. While shopping a pop-up holiday market in Nolita, I stumbled upon a few great finds, including my new-found morning coffee. You wouldn’t normally think to turn to Brooklyn for a great cup…
