Jourdann Goes Pink. Benjamin Moore’s Peony 2709-30. Even with temperatures cooling and chic fall coat wearing a must, pink is the perfect shade for October’s Color of the Month. The femme hue is not only representative of Breast Cancer Awareness, but it’s also a hot trend. On Peony: “Taking its name from the lush bloom that symbolizes romance and prosperity, this deep pink has a hint of black that makes it ideal for those who seek a vibrant color that’s not overpowering,” says Benjamin Moore. The expressive tone pairs gracefully with dark gray, as shown in the photos of interiors below….

The news from Paris is that fresh faces are upending Fashion Week runways. We’re not talking newcomer designers, though—rather, established houses like Balmain, Alexander Wang, and Proenza Schouler grabbed headlines by sending makeup-free models down the catwalk to showcase their creations. From left to right: Runway looks at Balmain, Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler. Leave it to the City of Light to remind the design world how glowing the au naturel look can be. But, perhaps there’s more than what’s on the face of it. The Digital Luxury Group released rankings this past summer showing that Chanel has finally overtaken…

We are so excited to have two (charming, brilliant, talented) new interns here at VP+C. Get to know Victoria and Jessica, below. Victoria Fancies These Florals: Ever since my childhood, I’ve loved flowers. I’m not sure if it’s a product of the bright colors, or their delicate petals, or just the fact that I’m a girl. Either way, I know I’m not alone, and that got me wondering: why don’t we use flowers in more interesting ways in advertising? Today’s use of flowers is narrow. They elicit romance, special occasions, and the daily lives of every single Gossip Girl character…

The VP+C crew is back in NYC after an exciting journey. Here are the top ten things we learned on the road: 1. Traveling folks have a zest for life. 2. Social media is a magnificent tool, yet face-to-face interaction is even more valuable today. 3. True hospitality goes a long way. 4. GPS is not always to be trusted. 5. Pittsburgh is surprisingly fabulous. 6. Sheetz is the best truck stop in the United States… or maybe in the world. 7.  It is important to break the mold, take risks, and go out on a limb if you want…

After we left Meredith Publications today, we embarked on the shortest leg of our journey yet. Just a few blocks from the publishing company’s HQ is The Des Moines Art Center’s Pappajohn Sculpture Park. The sculpture park, made up of 4.4 acres of grassy lawn so emerald green it’s surreal, is home to 27 sculptural masterpieces donated by John and Mary Pappajohn in 2009. It’s a great mix of works by everyone from Louise Bourgeois and Willem de Kooning to Keith Haring and Yoshitomo Nara. We stayed much longer than we intended to, of course, exploring the park and creating…

Have you heard of Public Relations Tailgating? Probably not, because we invented it today. Let us explain… We pulled in to our final destination, Meredith Publications, in Des Moines, IA, around 9:30 am. Rolled out our RV awning and Mohawk SmartStrand rug, inflated some Blofield furniture, and laid down our tablecloths made from Calico fabrics. Then we whipped up some delicious sandwiches, sliders, and fresh cookies to put on QSquared serving pieces, and arranged the jcpenney MarthaCelebrations paper goods. By 11 am sharp we were ready for company- we have grown quite accustomed to inviting people into our RV (motor…

We’ve had requests for more on our camping adventures- your wish is our command. We should start off by saying that RV people are the nicest people ever. Within minutes of arriving at our campground in Oxford, IA, our new friend Jeff had helped us level our RV, lent us weenie roasting sticks and a can opener, and provided cocktails (more on that later). It was a great time getting to know Jeff, his wife Kim and their awesome son Dawson (who is going to be an Eagle Scout very soon. They also introduced us to their fabulous friends Kim…

Design Trend of the Month: Meander (Greek Key Pattern) The meander is a classic motif that continues to grace stylish decor, furniture, and housewares. Despite being a timeless design, the meander is July’s Design Trend of the Month because, especially in crisp blue and white, it is reminiscent of the Greek Islands – a picturesque summertime getaway. Below, the VP+C team shares its favorite meander must-haves, but first, let’s take a trip to learn about this iconic pattern: – It symbolizes unity and infinity. – It was a common decorative element in the pottery, art, temples, vases and architectural friezes…

I don’t mean to be Debbie Downer but this week we sustained a loss that has us all reeling. Jason Sheftell, the New York Daily News real estate reporter, died. He was a young 46, in seemingly robust health. And, for those of us who had a chance to know him and work with him, he was high-octane, generous, and passionate about his work and life. I thought he looked like Adam Sandler. And, when we first met, it’s as if he had stepped out from a Hollywood film set in the role of “The Newspaper’s Beat Reporter” – wearing…

Last week AMC celebrated the launch of two new shows – Immortalized and Freakshow – with a fantastical and chicly creepy pop-up in midtown Manhattan dubbed Immortal Love. For weeks VP+C’s production team had been hard at work creating the experiential space – a collection of beautiful oddities brilliantly set off by a Thursday night event that included a fashion presentation by Cesar Galindo and a freakshow. Leading up to the event, every day brought a strange new curiosity to our office. First there were the deer heads that made their temporary home in a back corner. Then a double-headed…
