Ok, I’m a TV junkie. There, I admit it. And, while I’m confessing my pop culture vices, I’m addicted to my People magazine – can’t complete/start the week without it. Yes, my TV tastes are hard to reconcile—an adoring fan of intellectual fodder such as “Downton Abbey” and “Homeland” yet succumbing to imbecilic nonsense like (ok, this is troubling, I know) “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.” But, my current high is from “Dancing With The Stars.” I’ve yet to cast a vote but I’m fully engrossed watching those sexy bodies put to the performance test. The entertainment value is all…

This is for everyone who’s dropped a lot of money on a gift to impress a child (or more likely the child’s parents) and suspected that the kid enjoyed playing with the box it came in so much more than the actual gift. It was this insight that inspired this classic 2008 MasterCard commercial Now the Chicago Children’s Museum has opened an ingenious pop-up store in tandem with their “Unboxed” exhibit. It’s a retail studio space filled with plain cardboard boxes where children get to create their own toys based on a number of examples on display.

A guest blog post by Andrew Rosenbloom, Marketing Manager Davis & Warshow… For as long as I’ve lived in Brooklyn (not that long really) – I have dwelled among scaffolding, sidewalk bridges, pedestrian detours and general eyesore that was the Atlantic Stadium Project.   But, last week that site has finally given way to the modern, free-form, freshly paved transit hub that is The Barclays Center… and I wasn’t about to miss its first big party.  Jay-Z opened up the arena with 8 sold-out shows and I was lucky enough to score a pair of tickets. The neighborhood seems polarized about…

As marketers we know that all age groups are pretty heavy users of social media, yet so many news stories focus on millennials or tech-savvy brands. So it was good to read on Digiday this morning about an unlikely brand like the AARP having a smart social media strategy and engaging their audience to encourage them to think about the AARP when they consider their retirement. Read the full story here.

Today’s lead story on one of my favorite blogs, PSFK is about the coolest interactive technology idea. An app for both iPhone and Android that allowed the audience at Dan Deacon’s concert to create their own light shows without a Wi-Fi or internet connection. As they write: “Dan Deacon’s new app for iPhone and Android creates a communal experience at his shows by making the audience part of the music.” Take a look at the video: By Gavin Strumpman

The London games have been uplifting, heartbreaking, and all-around inspiring. Yet, no matter how fast you click the remote, good, bad and politically-charged advertising still punctuates the epic feats of athleticism. Unlike America’s annual Super Bowl advertising spectacular – which makes us gasp, laugh, and roll our eyes – the Olympic promos tend to tug at our heartstrings and stir up our sense of purpose. The best commercials are often a combination of unique, relevant, heartfelt, surprising, comical, poignant, and awe-inspiring. One of my favorite approaches this time around is Proctor & Gamble’s ‘Thank You Mom’ campaign, which includes TV…

You know your team is in sync when you arrive at the office donning the same styles– unplanned! For a boutique PR agency with a team of less than 20 members, it’s uncanny how often we show up looking shockingly similar. Wonder why this is? Maybe we’re just a trendy bunch. Check out a month’s worth of our groovy get-ups!

Next week marks an exciting moment for a small village in South Africa and the nonprofit organization Sharing to Learn.  Sharing to Learn is providing The Museum of Modern Art with toys from Makuleke, South Africa – created by hand with found materials in a tradition passed down for decades –for inclusion in its ambitious Century of the Child exhibit. The toys, designed and handcrafted by children and educators from the village, were loaned to Sharing to Learn founder Denise Ortiz on one of her regular visits to the village where Sharing To Learn maintains libraries and sponsors an orphan…

When you think yoga, you probably think of serenity, relaxation and quiet, right? Most of us who practice yoga  think of it as a time to step away from the rest of the busy, loud world and find peace. So, when I first heard of rock vinyasa, I was puzzled. Rock vinyasa is essentially doing yoga to upbeat, fun, modern music. I’ve stretched limbs and done sun salutations to everything from Mike Snow to Pat Benatar. At Rock Yoga, instructors encourage participants to have fun and not to take it so seriously. Sometimes, they even encourage them to sing along. …

I recently returned from a trip to Germany, where VP+C escorted a group of journalists to test Dornbracht’s incredible ATT technology. You’ve probably heard, by now, of the Horizontal Shower, which is powered by ATT. In addition to getting to test out this supremely relaxing, invigorating and exciting marvel of technological mastery, we had a wonderful tour of the country. Though i’ve had the privilege of visiting Dornbracht many times before, this was my first summertime visit and i have to say, it was spectacular. Check out my photos from the Black Forest and beyond. Horizontal Shower, above a supremely…
