The color green has many connotations. It stands for spring, youth, freshness, envy, $, eco-friendly and more. And it’s simply a shade that gets us all giddy. So, here are some ways we here at VP+C like to ‘go green’…
Margaux’s Picks-
SWEET! We are so feeling Grape Green right now–it’s the new orange.
Here are a few elements and reasons why we think it’s extra delicious:
1. Gender neutral chic that pops
2. It’s a Fall bright.
3. Makes a great tabletop setting when literal green grapes are piled high in a glass or plated.
4. Makes for the most stylish of rides. (this one courtesy of Public)
5. Makes a great Pinot Grigio
6. Low fat and a very good source of Vitamin C and Vitamin K.
7. It’s catchy and amazing…Click to view!
GOOD AND GREEN WITH LOTS OF CAFFEINE
My green pick honors the logo of my morning addiction: Starbucks. With a location around the corner from my apartment, the Queens Boulevard coffee shop has totally become my “Cheers,” where (some) the baristas know my name. They know me well enough, actually, that I’m often given under-the-table discounts on my coffee purchases—a free one here, a “refill price” there.
Though I’m usually not a fan of franchised anything, this jolly green giant helps me get my day started…and totally adds a skip to my step!
Kelsey’s Pick-
When I got the greenlight for this month’s color, I knew instantly what my jade pick would be- Kermit the Frog! Seriously, the man – err, Muppet – is an icon. He speaks to the difficulty of diversity with ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green,’ he manages the entire cast of the Muppet Show, and his romance with Ms. Piggy is one that I often find models my relationships in real life. I’m excited to honor his emerald existence, and he’s unquestionably my green pick of the month!

Peep this: A green chicken rocking chair by Spanish artist-designer, Jaime Hayon.
Hayon, a former graffiti guru turned celebrated creator of contemporary ceramics and furniture, birthed this baby with the aim to “portray [a] common bird as a sensational object by amplifying its characteristics and dimensions.” By masterfully blurring the lines between art, decoration and design—a feat for which he is known—Hayon dreamed up a bold yet whimsical work that I’ve become obsessed with. Seriously, the image is the wallpaper on my computer, cell, and I have it framed on my bedroom wall. I can’t get enough of it, which is odd because I’m terrified of birds—thanks to mom.
My fear aside, this rocker chick is a good egg for adding a touch of the unexpected to any (okay, most) interiors. It’s playful and a perfect conversation starter. Back to my mother…please add this to my Christmas wish list!
Lisa’s Pick-
Since my usual uniform is black, black, black, I’ve been experimenting with some creative nail colors. One I’m dying to try is OPI’s Gargantuan Green Grape, a crazy neon hue that is bound to punch up my gloomy getups.

And why I’m so sweet on green…
I’m one of those people who like to pick out the green skittles. There’s something about the lemon lime flavor that offers a nice twist on the classic lemon I find fun and refreshing!
What get’s your green going?
