Like many people, I don’t just want a cup of coffee in the morning- I practically depend on it. Throughout the years, my morning Starbucks coffee order has graduated from a regular coffee, to a skinny latte, to a dirty chai (a chai latte with shots of espresso – aka coffee crack). At least for me, a regular latte just doesn’t have the same effect it used to.
While shopping a pop-up holiday market in Nolita, I stumbled upon a few great finds, including my new-found morning coffee. You wouldn’t normally think to turn to Brooklyn for a great cup of joe, but the three brothers who started the Brewklyn Grind Coffee & Tea Company definitely know what they’re doing. For just two dollars, I had the freshest brew I’ve tasted in a while…. it was what coffee should taste like.
If you like strong coffee, you will love this. The effect was similar to that of a Starbucks dirty chai. Though I too love the convenience of walking into Starbucks, where a familiar face knows how you like your morning dose of caffeine, its nice to change it up once in a while, and I have to admit Starbucks everyday sure can cost you a pretty penny. I will definitely be stopping back there soon for my own bag of beans.
So check out the holiday market at the Open House Gallery, located on 201 Mulberry Street. The folks behind the Hester Street Fair put this pop-up store together. With about 30 vendors and Brewklyn Grinds coffee to greet you at the door, this place is definitely worth a visit. Put some pep in your step, though. It’s only open until tomorrow 12/23 8PM.
