Have you heard of Public Relations Tailgating? Probably not, because we invented it today. Let us explain…
We pulled in to our final destination, Meredith Publications, in Des Moines, IA, around 9:30 am. Rolled out our RV awning and Mohawk SmartStrand rug, inflated some Blofield furniture, and laid down our tablecloths made from Calico fabrics. Then we whipped up some delicious sandwiches, sliders, and fresh cookies to put on QSquared serving pieces, and arranged the jcpenney MarthaCelebrations paper goods.
By 11 am sharp we were ready for company- we have grown quite accustomed to inviting people into our RV (motor home travelers sure are friendly!). The brilliant editors started trickling in, oohing and ahhing at our totally tricked-out ride and looking fabulous lounging on our freshly upholstered pink velvet chair. They inquired about the flooring (Mohawk laminate), the paint color (Washington Blue from Benjamin Moore’s Colornial Williamsburg Color Collection) and learned about Flavor Paper.
We were so excited when Carol Schalla spilled a little mango spritzer! TheĀ Mohawk SmartStrand carpet is made to resist stains and Mark had a blast demonstrating its toughness. No, seriously. He was really excited.
It was a thrill to show off our ride. Or shall we call it our home? We’ve grown VERY fond of our mobile showcase.
We have officially dubbed this rig the The Virgil, named after our charming RV owner. That’s right- you can rent this puppy, with all of the PR RV finishes intact, from our Jackson, NJ-based buddy Virgil via his company, Fun Time Vacations.
Now we are on the road again. Back to the magical place we call our permanent home: New York City.
