Kisses for My (or Your) Valentine

Clearly I like to kiss and tell, because this week I’m sharing the scoop on an upcoming NY-based interactive installation that will have everyones’ hearts all a flutter for Valentine’s Day. – Meghan Dockendorf / Story via Dezeen / Renderings courtesy of Collective–LOK

Nintendo Nostalgia

I’m feeling the nostalgia with Nintendo’s Super Bowl ad celebrating Pokémon’s 20th anniversary of the franchise, and found its similarities to ads made by other athletic & competition brands – like Nike and Adidas – interesting in creating buzz for the brand. – Will Oh / Story via The Verge / Video via Nintendo

Fit N’ Fly

Not only because it’s fitness month when all eyes are on new year, new you and new me too… But I can now admit that Nike has officially pulled me back into the world of sneakers. This coming from a girl would always prefer a nice sexy uncomfortable stiletto any day of the week for the charm factor and little extra lift-

I’ve been geeking out over Nike’s Missoni-esque fly-knit for the better part of a year now. It makes trainers more visibly elegant as well as actually light – no clunk, no junk. This week Dezeen gives props to the new Air, lighter than ever with this material. I just had to share this convergence of material innovation and great design for the greater good. And now I’ll get back to my last physical therapy session thanks to all those aforementioned stilettos. – Margaux Caniato / Story via Dezeen / Image via Nike

Snowday In the City

Film maker Casey Neistat reminds us that adulthood doesn’t limit the pure joy of a good snow day—and I don’t mean because it means you can stay in bed.  As the ultimate dude, Casey and friends took advantage of NYC’s heavy snowfall over the weekend, snowboarding through Manhattan’s blizzard laden streets—resulting in a pretty fantastic viral video to the tune of Frank Sinatra.  – Alana Moskowitz / Video via Casey Neistat

Interactive Art

The experience that Kiosk offered was a very interactive one in which you could dial a number in order to hear product descriptions. In its hay days in SoHo, “Kiosk was thought of as a shop by some; others don’t see it that way at all. In terms of commerce we were a mess; in terms of art, totally undefinable.” The installation at MoMA PS1 is the archive of things found on trips during the first ten years of operation. – Kevin Mejia / Story & Image via Artnet.com

Model On Top

This week, Aerie’s announcement of their newest swimsuit campaign with plus-size model Barbie Ferreira caught my eye. The company’s dedication to only using un-retouched models – known as #AerieREAL – has garnered plenty of attention from fashionable feminists, marketers and more over the past few years. What makes this particular initiative different is an expanded focus on size, essentially adding followers of HAES (Health at Every Size) and Fat/Size Acceptance movements to the conversation. I’m very interested in seeing the full campaign when it’s release as well as reading the conversations on beauty standards that are sure to follow. – Michelle Addo/ Story via Jezebel / Video via Aerie
