Shake it, Baby!

It happened practically overnight: Shake Shack has invaded the Upper East Side. With its soft opening this past weekend, my friends and I were already contemplating the massive amounts of working out we’ll need to combat the amazingly greasy goodness of the now-legendary New York burger joint. And can we talk about the new shake flavors featured at the UES location? I can guarantee that I (lactose-intolerance and all) will surely indulge in  the Coffee Bean Brownie (vanilla custard, brownies, coffee caramel, whipped cream)  and Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunchcrete (chocolate custard, peanut-butter sauce, chocolate toffee, chocolate sprinkles). Totally worth it.

Shake Shake to the rescue!

Shake Shack to the rescue!

According to Grub Street NYC, the UES location (like the the theater district location) was designed by SITE Environmental Design, which used wood recycled from old bowling alley lanes for the tables, and Coney Island boardwalk wood for benches. Yep, that’s right. Indoor seating! Now, even winter won’t stop the UES from enjoying a Shack Stack!

Yummy.

Yummy.

Since the line to get in is just as long as the other locations (Madison Square Park, Theater District, Upper West Side and Citi Field) perhaps I can do some jogging in place as a preventative calorie-burning measure? Hey– I’m open to suggestions.
