With a new year comes so many things – a refreshed mind, revived ambitions… and remembering to write “2017” in the date. We checked in with our team to see what everyone’s goals are going into the new year.

I like to keep my resolutions really attainable. Last year I stretched and vowed to reach inbox zero, which was a failure.

This year (following the success of my 2015 “wear more lipstick” resolution) I’m going to wear more nail polish. I’m also planning to conquer two yoga arm balances.

Bring my blog back to life. As much I’ve tried to update my blog on a weekly basis, it’s time to face reality: it has seen better days. But 2017 will be the year when it’ll come back to life and will (hopefully) get the attention of hundreds of PR enthusiasts that, like me, enjoy reading other’s views on PR and communications! All I need is some new ideas and a well-structured content calendar! Stay tuned!

My New Year’s resolution is to exercise more! ( it’s been on my to-do list for awhile…)

I don’t believe in resolutions. They are easy to make in the moment but not to keep as they are disconnected from the way we live our lives. Rather set a goal for the year and plan steps to help you meet that goal.

Make going to the gym part of my day to day. I know, I know – it might be one of the most cliché resolutions, but I had actually made up my mind around Black Friday to make it an essential part of my weekly routine. To commit, I’ve been following a set workout routine (https://stronglifts.com/) that gets me into the gym 3-4 times every week, and it’s been a blast – even if sometimes I have to sacrifice some couch time on the weekends!

2017 is already bringing some exciting changes including a change of scenery! My 2017 resolution is to save more money by working out in my new apartment building’s gym and cook more meals! It is time to dust off my slow cooker and find some tasty recipes.

I’m vowing to be “present” while I eat so that I develop a positive relationship with food and be more aware about what and how I’m eating. It’s also helpful to simply stare at my phone/computer screen less.

The second goal, which is way less reflective but just as hard: getting my driver’s license. Yes, I am a true New York City girl, so while I can quickly tell you what subways and buses you need to take throughout the five boroughs, I break out into a cold sweat thinking about driving more than 35mph.

Get ready for my wedding day!
Camera adds (10lb) + all the eating I did while dating (10lb) = grand total of 20lb to say goodbye this year. Starting tomorrow (haha), I will try really hard to hit the gym more and cook healthier food at home!

I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions! Ummmm…. Okay, here’s mine: Learn a decent party trick.

This year, I’m expanding on my 2016 resolution (which was to exercise more and to stop eating meat) by cutting dairy products – including eggs – from my diet. Photo below is of a recent stir fry!

A major goal for me this year is to be more active and more consistent with a fitness regimen. I’m not a gym person – I much prefer working out at home – however, things that are also at home: my bed, and my couch… So I’m hoping to be a little more disciplined to actually stick to my workouts!

Additionally, I am continuing with my resolution last year to read books regularly. Reading (for fun) used to be a huge part of my identity when I was younger and I kind of dropped off the wagon in high school and college. It’s been wonderful to get back into reading and it’s a great way to pass the time on the subway. So, now that I am equipped with a Kindle, I aim to go through at least a book a month (hopefully more!). Some of my favorite reads that I picked up in 2016 were: My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem, This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ariel by Sylvia Plath and The Girls’ Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank.
