With the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in its final throes, I’m here with a report from the inside (V+P has been stationed at Javits for the show, proudly representing Dornbracht and Turnstyle Designs) on what, in my opinion, is the finest, fab-est furniture fair in the US.
Show me what you've got, ICFF.
There was a great buzz at the show, and the excited, always-stylish crowd swarmed booths for a look at everything from hyper-modern dollhouses to startlingly beautiful wallcoverings to Endangered Species erasers.
Timorous Beasties, winner of an ICFF Editors' Award, set my heart aflutter with this White Moth wallcovering.
The thought of my polar bear slowly disappearing as I use him to correct mistakes brings tears to my eyes.
Kikkerland's thought-provoking gifts drew a big crowd.
There seemed to be less cool stuff for kids this year, though I loved the colorful, indestructible-looking Magis furniture, and the
aforementioned Emerson dollhaus from Brinca Dada.
Magis makes you want to be a kid again!
Brinca Dada definitely wins the award for best literature, with a brochure that folds out into a little plaything.
Hours of desktop entertainment!
There also was some seriously beautiful furniture, of course.
My favorite: a scarab beetle shelving unit, by Egg Designs, in the Amaridian booth.
And finally, as child of a packaging professional, I could not resist these corrugated creations from Gray Pants
Anything but boxy.
Thanks for the memories, ICFF. See you next year!
