Attention New Yorkers: I’m about to let you in on a secret that will change your lives.
Since I moved to the city from Connecticut, I’ve been missing out on my favorite food: mashed potato pizza. Pick your jaw up off the floor and wipe that quizzical look off your face. This culinary masterpiece is one that is near and dear to my heart. And in a city with countless pizzerias, I’m flabbergasted that I’ve yet to find one that specializes in my favorite treat.
I know what you’re thinking – what the heck is mashed potato pizza?! Allow me break it down for you. Thin crust pizza dough, topped with mashed potatoes, drenched in sour cream, sprinkled with cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and scallions.
I have a found a few New Haven County restaurants that have truly mastered this decadent delicacy. If you’re ever in the Constitution State, treat yourself to the Big Spud Pizza at Eli’s Brick Oven Pizza, or the Mashed Potato Pizza from BAR, or Southport Brewing Company. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
So as I sit drooling at my desk, I pose a challenge to my foodie friends. Track down a mashed potato pizza in Manhattan! (And if you let me know where I can find it, I’ll treat you!)
PS: Has anyone else noticed that I only blog about food?
