Better late than never…
Growing up, I’ve mostly turned to museums, dance performances and Broadway for entertainment. And though I have never been an avid sports fan, I thought it was about time for me to broaden my horizons.
Curious to get my foot into the world of sports, and possibly understand the appeal behind faux sports, I figured this would be the perfect weaning experience.
Last Monday night a good friend (my designated sports mentor) and I trekked to the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ for my very first NBA basketball game!
Why the NJ Nets?
1. Not the best team in the league, so the tickets were rather inexpensive.
2. I had hoped to sneak a peek at Ms. Kim Kardashian since she occasionally attends to support her beau.
Check out some photos below:
Despite The Nets’ ranking, the stadium was full up to the last row, with a great home crowd energy.
My mentor did a great job filling me in on the chants, rules, point system, and player positions, though I won’t lie, my favorite part was still watching the Nets’ dancers:
Only five stops on the Path train from the World Trade Center, it was the perfect casual Monday night outing- cheap, convenient, and new.
A super fun learning experience that leaves me wanting more… can’t wait until my next sporting adventure!
