Like sticks of licorice or Laffy Taffy, this staircase is sweet!
While getting my daily dose of the home interiors blogosphere, I stumbled upon these brilliant spiral steps by the London-based company, AB Rogers Design—my new ‘gods’ when it comes to ultra-cool concepts. Fashioned as the focal point for what is appropriately known as ‘The Rainbow House,’ this colorful climber is something that I want, nay, must have in my home! One thing though: my apartment is only one level. Hmm…I either move, immediately, or file the idea away for the future. Bank account says: future.
Moving onward (and upward)…this bespoke fiberglass and steel piece of work gave rise to the company’s bright idea of sprinkling the staircase’s shades throughout each story of the house–on each floor, the colors spread out to create a cohesive and cheerful visual rhythm throughout the rooms. And if the hues (and sound of ascending and descending heels) don’t liven up the look enough, AB Rogers slid in skylights at the very top of the house to drench the staircase in light, bringing it all to life.
This Rainbow wonder is truly a fun feast for the eyes, and a magical place that I’d love to call home—or at least run around and play in. Oh, and did I mention that in one of the rooms (below) there’s a trap door in the floor that pops open to reveal a slide that shoots you down to the living room? Yeah, now that’s living!
