Happy Earth Day! Today is the perfect time to tell you about a fantastic “green” project that I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek of this week: BRIDES Magazine’s Newlywed Nest. The eco-friendly show house is located at Village Green (311 E. 11th St.), a new luxury condo that’s seeking LEED Gold certification – the first of its kind on the Lower East Side.

The Newlywed Nest is perched in a triplex at the top of the ultra-modern building. There, esteemed NYC interior designer Inson Wood proves that eco-friendly design can be stylish and affordable, employing Ikea furnishings and Benjamin Moore’s eco-friendly Aura, Natura and Advance paints (full disclosure: I was lucky enough to attend the sneak preview, since our client, Benjamin Moore, was a sponsor! Yay for Perks!)

Inson did an amazing job with the place. It’s colorful, modern and sophisticated. And did I mention the unbelievable 2,000-square foot private terrace? Priceless! Now, if I can just rustle up a few million dollars to buy the place. But don’t just take my word for it… stop by and check it out. The Newlywed Nest officially opens on weekends from April 24-May 22, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. BRIDES has put together a fantastic line up of programs that will be held inside the house including wine tastings, cupcake decorating demonstrations and boot camp classes on that fabulous roof top. See you there!
