You guys, I am so excited. Normally, the New Museum leaves me kind of cold, but Architizer is reporting that for German artist Carsten Höller’s retrospective show, opening this month, he will be installing a 40-foot-high, 102-foot-long clear plastic slide in the building. Here’s the scoop: “The slide, a signature site-specific installation that has appeared in other cities including Berlin, Milan and London, is to function as “an alternative transportation system within the museum,” running through ceilings and floors and shuttling viewers through the exhibition “as a giant 102-foot-long pneumatic mailing system.” I’m so riding the slide on my lunch…

This week I was lucky enough to try out Kiehl’s ‘new’ classic Crème de Corps Cream, which was created in collaboration with the band Florence and the Machine in celebration of the Teenage Cancer Trust. Florence, much like most young girls, struggled with her own self-image in her teenage years. She embraced the idea of a lotion devoted to teenagers, who instead of developing a sense of their own beauty, are faced with their own vulnerability in illness. This initiative is especially poignant because it nurtures and celebrates the teenager as well as nurtures and comforts the young warrior against…

Not many people know this, but when Oprah went off the air, the Harpo producers called me like crazy, asking if I would replace the megastar’s talk show with one of my own. They said, “Give the people what they want! ‘The Josh Show!’” Though I ultimately declined their offers of fame, fortune, and a cover spot on O! Magazine, I have been wondering lately what my first episode of The Josh Show would have looked like. First, I would give away plates of chicken nachos to everyone in the audience. Earlier this week, Kelsey, Michelle and I visited VYNL,…

There’s no denying the Italian obsession that’s recently taken a hold of our country. Just turn on your TV. You’ll find Jersey Shore, Mob Wives, Real Housewives of New Jersey. Love it or hate it (I personally love it), there’s no way to ignore the influx of Italians. This weekend I attended what I consider to be the true original of Italian American celebrations–the Feast of San Gennaro. The annual celebration is dedicated to the Patron Saint of Naples, and the first feast in New York City took place in September 1926. Taking over Mulberry St in the Little Italy…

Long gone are the lackadaisical days of summer—things are beyond busy now. So last night, in an effort to recharge my batteries, I treated myself to an evening of couch surfing while chowing down on a pint of Mint Chocolate Cookie ice cream and checking out really, really bad T.V. shows, like the Charlie Sheen roast. In between bites and browsing I webbed around to get all caught up on the latest and greatest offerings from my fave furnishing companies. While many of my findings were fabulous, the pieces that made me do a double take were the following chairs from Room Service.

While working on little Teddy’s nursery, I decided that standard-issue hampers and toy bins were just not going to work for me. In a frenzy to find stylish storage, i came across these gorgeous Serena and Lily Senegalese Storage Baskets. They’re big, bold, and exotic without taking over the room, and the handles are helpful for carrying huge loads of baby laundry over to the washing machine. My basket success (and ensuing infatuation) got me thinking… what else is out there? Here are a few of my favorite woven wonders: O.co, formerly Overstock.com (why did they do that?) actually has…

The color green has many connotations. It stands for spring, youth, freshness, envy, $, eco-friendly and more. And it’s simply a shade that gets us all giddy. So, here are someways we like to ‘go green’…

It’s the last summer Friday of the year and we’re working hard at VP+C! For those of you working along with us on this beautiful afternoon, enjoy a few candids of the VP+C PR gals struggling to assemble some signage… On that note, we’re off for the holiday weekend! Enjoy the summer sun and we’ll see you on Tuesday!

Last week I wrote about being Dwellingly Challenged and it has become my anthem of the year. This week I moved into my first house and MAN the challenges I had not fully appreciated while sitting pretty in our little glass box apartments of recent years – tiny as they were. I have an entirely newfound respect and appreciation for our fellow architects, designers, stagers, craftsmen and contractors who’s hands are deep in this soil every day. So here goes a few Dwelling Challenges and Tips I’d like to pass along for whoever may be able to benefit in the…

I recently encountered, what appeared to be, a homeless man on the block of the Museum of Modern Art, here in NY.  His sign said simply Dwellingly Challenged. I googled the term and found one witty blogger who used it as a generalization for homeless people. But the sign of this gentleman on 53rd street stuck with me for days. I wish I’d taken the time to stop and talk with him and find out what his story was – because the sign really invited some sort of engagement. The encounter suddenly put our whole precious ‘design world’ into a…
