Are you chicken?

For about 8 months, I’ve been completely repulsed by one of my usual favorite foods, chicken. But last week, completely sick of Kashi Heart-to-Heart and grilled cheese,I asked my husband to take me to Brooklyn’s Pies n’ Thighs for a sandwich that I’ve been hearing about from friends for a while now. The fascination started when my friend Mara described this thing as the world’s most perfect sandwich. Another friend could only moan.

Looks tiny but there's a huge back dining room, too.

And then, at an Easter brunch at a friends house, I tasted a slice of Pies n’ Thighs’ banana cream pie, and  i thought to myself, “this would taste pretty good after that sandwich.” Which, of course, i had never eaten before. I’m not rational these days, folks.

I honestly don't even like banana cream pie that much.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the chicken biscuit.

Mine came swimming in a hot-saucy puddle. yum.

The components are simple- a perfect biscuit, crisp and golden brown outside and soft and chewy inside, a generous smear of honey butter, a crispy chicken breast, and a very generous puddle of hot sauce. It’s sweet and salty and a little bit spicy. Essentially, a sandwich symphony.  It’s also huge, and a meal in itself for just $5.50. It’s completely awesome.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t have pie. I was too full to eat mine then and there, but I did bring home a luscious slice of key lime for later.

There’s bbq, much more friend chickeny goodness and a selection of delicious sounding sides to sample, too.  Cash only…
