2010 has been a pretty monumental year for me.  Not only have I discovered a Dominican dish called Mofongo (mo’ to come on this), but I attended my first International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) this past weekend.  Bouncing between Lisa at Dornbracht, and Esther at Turnstyle, I had a chance to see the all of the industry’s latest offerings.

Since the show, I’ve been checking in with the design blogs, and the trend reports have already begun emerging. A couple of blogs,  including LA Times’ “ICFF 2010: Time for color — lots of color”, and Living in Color with Sonu’s  “Color Trends from ICFF,” have noted the brilliant HUES on display at the show.

Rounding up products on an altogether different theme, Design*Sponge posted about the plethora of circles found on many of this year’s products.

Well, here’s my 2011 home furnishings forecast: it’s all about the appendage.

Ok, so this trend may not have taken every designer by the hand, but I did see some interesting ways that the body has been incorporated into home furnishings. Take these wall hooks, for instance, from UK-based Thelermont Hupton:

Also keeping step with great design is The Brothers Dressler. This team of twins uses reclaimed wood for their products, including the salvaged foot forms featured on this bench:

Rough and Perfect must be wanting to get “ahead” of the competition, with a wall lamp featuring George Washington’s face.
