A Legend Takes Her Final Bow

Phoebe-Philo-Jumper

It’s the end of an era… Phoebe Philo is leaving Celine after the fw2016 show. Whether you’re familiar with her work at Celine or not, her overall minimal design aesthetic has been one of the most coveted and copied since she revitalized the old-school Parisian brand in 2008. I can’t wait to see who takes over at Celine, and what Philo does next.  Image via Celine

Reading with the Stars

Read by Famous

Book nerds and celebrity stalkers unite! I know that some people are into collecting autographed copies of books, first edition hunting is a thing, but Read by Famous takes book objectification to a-whole-nother level. This is a website that sells books owned and read by famous people (Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Baldessari, Maggie Gyllenhaal, oh my!), with all proceeds donated to book and literacy focused non-profits. A weird way to objectify books as an object, which I shamelessly do when I find a beautifully designed book, but an interesting way to raise funds for a good cause!

A Barbie for Every Size

Barbie, always in the line of fire when it comes to unhealthy body image, is finally catching up to the times! A 2-year project results in 3 new shapes (tall, petite, curvy) for the doll and further customization options including multiple skin tones, eye colors, and over 20 hairstyles. a small step towards the world we live in today, but a big one for Mattel. ~ Margaret Park / Story via Apartment Therapy / Image via Mattel
