I’ll admit I’m not alwascreen-shot-2016-09-23-at-12-16-16-pmys in the know about everything in the fashion world. But when New York Fashion Week rolls around every year, you can bet I’m constantly refreshing my Instagram, fashion sites and Twitter feed for the latest news and pictures. As per years past, there was an array of photos of the usual key players: Hadid, Jenner, Kloss, etc. However, there was one fresh face that separated herself from the pack.

Canadian model Winnie Harlow, 22, has been on the scene since she competed on America’s Next Top Model in 2014. Since then, she has become an official brand representative for Desigual, walk in numerous fashion shows and landed a spot in Diesel’s spring campaign.

Like I said, I don’t know everything about the fashion industry. But what I do know is that if designers are putting Harlow in their shows and campaigns then what all the fashion sites, tweets and Instagram posts are saying is true: the idea of modern beauty is changing is a positive way.
